Sue O'Leary-Hall

Academic Director and Founder

I founded Thesan Coaching and Training in 2017 to provide a 360 degree support service to schools because:

  •  teachers and school leaders deserve bespoke training and coaching to help them thrive in an increasingly complex and challenging profession
  • pupils require support to develop the necessary academic and emotional competence to experience success at school and beyond
  • parents need evidence-based support to manage the changing dynamics of family life

I have twenty years’ experience as a school leader, trainer and coach in both the maintained and independent sectors.

My professional background includes:

- Director of Teaching and Learning

- Director of Student Leadership (House System)

- Head of Sixth Form

- Head of House

- Head of English and Mathematics Faculty

- Head of English and Creative Arts Faculty

- Advanced Skills Teacher

As well as holding a BA (Hon's) in Philosophy, a PGCE in English and a Master's degree in Education, I am a qualified International Practitioner in Neuro-Linguistic Programming.

Last but by no means least, I am also Mum to William and Rosaline, aged 5 and  1, respectively.

Carolyn Bradley

Academic Research Lead

I am Carolyn Bradley, a Head of Drama, Research Lead and Specialist Leader of Education. I deliver whole school CPD on Teaching and Learning and support colleagues with their classroom teaching through Coaching.

As Research Lead, my role is to disseminate academic research to colleagues to support with their teaching and learning, and for the last four years I have been co-ordinating my school's participation in the MYRIAD project, a large scale research project into adolescent mental health run by Oxford University.

I have completed two Master's degrees, in Theatre Practices and, most recently, in Education. In my recent MA in Education, my areas of academic interest were reflective practice, independent learning, and character development.

I am a freelance education consultant with a specialism in Arts Education; clients have included BBC Learning (Education Consultant for the BBC2 programme "The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-time: Page to Stage"), Welcome to Yorkshire Tourist Board, AQA, and 1927 Theatre Company.

My work has been published in Impact Journal, Drama Magazine, and Teaching Shakespeare, and I was shortlisted for Arts and Drama Teacher of the Year at the TES Awards in 2016.

Kate Barnett

Chartered Educational Psychologist

I have 15 years’ experience of working for a Local Authority, providing Educational Psychology services to schools, families and children and young people aged 0 to 25 years.

I assess children’s Special Educational Needs (SEN) and help staff to implement appropriate interventions, based on psychological theory and evidence-based practice.

As a qualified teacher (Mathematics and Psychology), I am passionate about applying psychology to enhance teaching and learning. I work systemically with schools, supporting teachers and parents to remove barriers to learning.

Dr Emma Dixon

Consultant Clinical Psychologist

I am Dr Emma Dixon (MA (Hons), D Clin Psychol, AFBPsS, CPsychol), a Consultant Clinical Psychologist with over 20 years experience of working in the NHS in Child and Adolescent Mental Health (CAMHS), Primary Care and Child Development Services.

Now in independent practice, I hold a special interest in supporting children, young people, families and other professionals in recognising and enhancing their own strengths to build upon their skills, resilience and confidence.

I love the fact that change can be so dynamic in childhood and that seemingly small steps can have such a positive impact on an individual’s psychological well-being.
